You Will Die Too

@ Public Works

2141 W North Ave., Chicago, IL 60647

Opening Friday, March 24th, from 7PM - 11PM

On view through Saturday, May 27th

Public Works hosts “You Will Die Too,” a collaborative show featuring the work of prolific artists in and adjacent to the extreme metal genre.”

Like its 2019 forebear “You Will Die”, “You Will Die Too” is curated by Scott Shellhamer, an artist and former member of the Chicago metal band American Heritage. In putting together this show, Shellhamer sought artists who traverse the underground, unearth beauty in the decay and find enlightenment in the darkness.

The Chicago Reader said of the 2019 exhibition: “‘You Will Die’ does what it intended to do. It celebrates the icons of extreme metal art and features work by artists who those in the scene admire. Most importantly, it is a reminder to question our dismal existence and emphasize the reality that yes, we will all die.”

RSVP to publicworksgallery.com is required for the opening party on Friday, March 24 (7-11PM), which will feature music by Sanford Parker (@thesanford), a DJ set from local record/book shop Bucket O Blood (@bucketoblood), CBD beverage collaboration with Marz Brewing (@marzbrewing), and a limited-run apparel collaboration with Yewon Kwon (@yaystation4).
