Hot Pink Platter

@ AIR Gallery

348 Tudor Ct, Glencoe, IL 60022

Opening Saturday, March 4th, from 5PM - 7PM

On view through Saturday, April 1st

The Chicago Women’s Caucus for Art (CWCA), unites women throughout the midwest in their upcoming exhibition, “Hot Pink Platter” at A.I.R. Gallery in Glencoe this March.

“Hot Pink Platter” opens its doors to the public with an opening reception on March 4th from 5-7 PM. The aim of this CWCA member exhibition is to highlight research practices, celebrate being unapologetically yourself, and embrace your feminine identity in whatever capacity that means to you as an artist. This exhibition features over 50 Chicago area artists and even a few out-of-state artists that were both juried and selected by curator Veronica Clements and the CWCA exhibitions committee.

“These pieces explore the absurdity and feelings revolving around the loss of bodily autonomy.”
Janelle O’Malley, Artist

A.I.R. Gallery is a gallery and studio space in Glencoe for local artists, run by Beth Peterson, who is committed to the CWCA’s mission of supporting women in their artistic journey.

“This is a piece about not getting the apology you deserve.”
Artist, Brooke Raven

The CWCA was established in 1973 and is a chapter of the National Women’s Caucus for Art. The mission of the Women’s Caucus for Art is to create community through art, education, and social activism. WCA is committed to recognizing the contribution of women in the arts; providing women with leadership opportunities and professional development; expanding networking and exhibition opportunities for women; supporting local, national and global art activism; and advocating for equity in the arts for all.

The exhibition highlights painting, drawing, and crocheted art, as well as mixed media and sculptural pieces.

“Common threads that unite this exhibition are strength, resilience, and the occasional pop of pink.”
Curator, Veronica Clements
