@ Blue Moon Gallery

18620 Belvidere Rd, Grayslake IL 60030

Opening Saturday, March 26th, from 6PM - 9PM

On view through Sunday, April 10th

Kathleen Gallo is a recent BFA graduate from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. Her specialties include human anatomy, forensic art, post-mortem facial reconstructions from archival skulls, and the study of anthropology. Her preferred mediums are oil and graphite.

Kathleen completed her first post-mortem facial-reconstruction at The New York Academy of Art. She has created reconstructions for the Pima County Police, Penn Museum, Mutter Museum, and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Images of her post-mortem facial reconstructions have been published in Expedition magazine and The New York Times.

Her reconstruction of a Neandertal from approximately 45,000-65,000 years ago is on permanent display at the Penn Museum. She had her first solo exhibition of 2D skull reconstructions, Brushes With Death: Examining the Human Condition, at the International Museum of Surgical Science, North America’s only museum devoted to surgery, located in Chicago, in 2021.

Continuing her focus on human beings as a subject, Kathleen’s Blue Moon exhibition presents an intimate collection of tonal oil paintings and graphite drawings featuring the inherent beauty of diverse faces and figures.
