Opening Thursday, September 23rd, at 6PM
In conjunction with the exhibition Learned Objects, teacher, artist, cultural worker, and urban anthropologist William Estrada will discuss his practice with particular attention to his project Portraits of Resolution (2014/17) on view in the exhibition. Estrada’s current research is focused on developing community based and culturally relevant projects that center power structures of race, economy, and cultural access in contested spaces. Estrada will be in conversation with Chicago based visual artist, educator, and independent curator Zakkiyyah Najeebah Dumas O’neal. Her work is most often initiated by personal and social histories related to family legacy, queerness, community making, and interiority.
