the cclouds is a graduate student-organized reading and artist talk series. We seek to facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration and sharing of work—presenters construct conversations-through-objects. The series is supported by the University of Chicago English Department, the Humanities Division, and The Gray Center

Hannah Brooks-Motl was born and raised in Wisconsin. She is the author of the poetry collections The New Years (Rescue Press, 2014), M (2015), and Earth (2019), both published by the Song Cave. Critical and creative work has appeared in the Best American Experimental Writing, the Cambridge Literary Review, Modernism/modernity, and in edited collections from Cambridge and Wesleyan University Press. She earned an MFA at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst and PhD at the University of Chicago, where she was poetry editor for the Chicago Review from 2016-2019. Currently an assistant acquisitions editor at Amherst College Press and Lever Press, two open-access scholarly presses, Hannah lives in western Massachusetts.
Jonathan Rajewski (b. 1986, Bismarck, North Dakota) is an artist and writer. He earned a BA in Philosophy from Michigan State University in 2009 and is a 2021 MFA Candidate in Painting and Printmaking at the Yale School of Art. He has exhibited at Nina Johnson Gallery, Miami, FL; Marlborough Gallery, New York, NY; Jack Hanley Gallery, New York, NY; Reyes Finn Gallery, Detroit, MI; and the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit. His work has appeared in The Yale Review, The Exhibitionist (MIT Press), Essay’d (Wayne State Press), Three Fold Press and Mousse Magazine. He lives and works between Detroit, Michigan and New Haven, Connecticut.
