@ Mana Contemporary

Online

On view through Monday, November 30th

Streaming from Sunday, November 1 through Saturday, November 30 at 12pm EDT

Set to the rhythmic music of Malian multi-instrumentalist Luka Guindo, Fôret is a color-filled series of animated dots, circles, lines, and squares formed into a hypnotic composition of frenetic motion.

Fôret was created by Lisa Barcy, an independent filmmaker and artist who has been awarded the Director’s Citation twice at the Black Maria Film Festival, and Best Animation at both the Chicago Underground Film Festival and the Ann Arbor Film Festival. Her films include The Guilt Trip, or The Vaticans Take a Holiday, Mermaid, The Ordovicians, and Anonanimal, a music video for Andrew Bird. Barcy has also created large puppets for several Chicago-based theater companies.

CHICAGOLAND SHORTS VOL. 6
Presented in partnership with Full Spectrum Features, Chicagoland Shorts Vol. 6 unites the best of documentary, narrative, experimental, video collage, and animated short works from Chicago filmmakers. The sixth volume of this traveling short film anthology features recent works from established and up-and-coming makers alike. The collection embarks on a journey, traveling from the windy city, to Vietnam, to Iran—exploring stories of self-discovery, family, childhood, sex, and death.
