Join the South Side Home Movie Project and RBPAC for an screening of recently collected materials digitized by the National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC) team during their month-long residency in Chicago. Featuring film clips from the 1920s-1980s, this session invites attendees to imagine new ways of activating and preserving community knowledge through home movies now available to all in perpetuity.

Got a box of 8mm, Super-8, or 16mm reel-to-reel gathering dust in a basement, garage or Granny’s attic? The South Side Home Movie Project would like you to participate in its unique initiative to collect, preserve, digitize and exhibit amateur films from Chicago’s South Side neighborhoods. SSHMP staff will be on hand to provide information on preservation and donating films to the SSHMP archive.
