Galerie F proudly presents Harbinger: Penny Pinch Solo Show
Artist Reception // Friday, November 15th 6-10pm
Exhibition Duration // November 15 – December 1
Galerie F opens up to showcase all new works by Chicago’s beloved street-philosopher Penny Pinch. The gallery has a longstanding relationship with this character and you, too, have undoubtedly seen his work all across the city over the last eight years. His wheatpastes, originals and prints offer delightful glimpses of our current social experiences with one another. They are approachable even when poignant, almost as if you’re catching his character blurting out a passing thought.
From the Artist:
“Artists, and street artists in particular, should be students of the times. They should be interpreters and translators of the time and space in which they live. They should see the signs that foretell the coming of something new and learn to adapt, adjust, and change with the shift. Over the past 8 years of doing street art in Chicago, I have seen neighborhoods change and shift. Certain businesses closing down and certain businesses opening up tell us a lot about a neighborhood. Many galleries and artists coming and going, new artists filling the gaps, and some of the faithful standing strong.
Harbinger is about change in my life and my city. It’s about reading the signs and looking to the things that are showing what is to come.”
– Penny Pinch
Harbinger is generously sponsored by Crook and Marker. This event is free, open to the public and kid friendly.
