Join Chicago-area drag queens Miss Sutton and Miss Jerfay for an hour of stories, songs, and crafting at the Newberry’s first Drag Queen Story Hour (DQSH).
Held at libraries, schools, and bookstores across the country, Drag Queen Story Hour (DQSH) is just what it sounds like: drag queens reading stories to children. DQSH channels the imagination and play of childhood and gives kids glamorous, positive, and unabashedly queer role models who defy gender restrictions and help children imagine a world where people can present as they wish.
The event is open to all but is especially aimed at children ages 3 to 8.
The Newberry will host DQSH programs throughout 2019 and 2020, including a second Story Hour this fall, on November 2.
