Chicago South Side Film Festival (CSSFF) brings back the celebration of South Side of Chicago on films. The diverse films will bring together film-goers and film-makers at venues on Chicago’s south side September 27th to October 6th.

At the forefront of early hip-hop culture, DJ Kenny Kirkland (Guy Davis), his B-boy brother, Lee (Robert Taylor), and graffiti artist Ramon (John Chardiet) all have hopes of showcasing their talents outside the confines of South Bronx, N.Y. When Tracy Carlson (Rae Dawn Chong), a composer and choreographer, runs into Kirkland and Lee at one of Manhattan’s hottest nightclubs, she offers Lee an opportunity to perform on TV. However, the crew has a long way to go before achieving their dreams.

Women Behind The Lens (Short Films)

This is a screening of four short films by women Directors – all with South Side roots! The films feature four distinct perspectives, voices, and approaches to storytelling. Following the films will be a panel discussion with the Directors led by Lex Curtis, Assistant Producer of the Chicago South Side Film Festival.

This is a showcase of five short films by five Directors, all with roots in Chicago’s South Side. The films are a mix of documentaries, narrative features, science fiction, and comedies. After the films are screening, there will be a panel discussion with the Directors and Michelle Kennedy, Producer of the Chicago South Side Film Festival.

When low-income families move into a thriving black community in Chicago, they find themselves at odd with wealthy neighbors and shady politicians. Join Director Mark Harris and the film’s actors to watch and discuss the best and most controversial scenes.

“Thee Debauchery Ball”

Directed by David Weathersby, 2018, 1 hour 11 minutes long

Thee Debauchery Ball is the story of Chicago’s Afro-Futuristic, BDSM, fetish-themed House music party and how it has reshaped the Black social scene and challenged the narratives of Black sexuality.
