Galerie F proudly presents Cosmic Pop: Mac Blackout 2019 Solo Art Show
Artist Reception: Friday, June 7th 6-10pm
Exhibition Duration: June 7th-June 30th
Mac Blackout is a Chicago-based visual artist and musician — his stimulating artwork is otherworldly, outrageous and never fails to answer every question with more questions. His medium ranges from mixed media paintings and illustrations to designing his own album covers to public murals all over Chicago. You’ve probably seen his electrifying work on the streets, turning common shops, venues and walls into splashing, colorful portals of imagination.
Join us for the artist reception on Friday, June 7th from 6-10PM, as we unveil Mac’s latest body of work – Cosmic Pop.
From the Artist:
My creations are rooted in depicting dreams and visions reflecting and abstracting the world around us, enlivening and anthropomorphizing walls, structures, raw materials, canvases, existing objects, etc. An overall sense of mystery prevails making metaphysical presence the focal point of the work through the use of bold, colorful, and relatable visual elements.
While public and private murals are a primary focus, this body of studio work created form 2018 to 2019 exemplifies this visual language in a multitude of mediums: painting, drawing, sculpture, collage, and animation. Working in multiple disciplines allows me to use the process as a tool to discover and fully realize each vision. Many of the pieces in this show are studies and building blocks for future large scale public works.
Cosmic Pop is generously sponsored by Old Style. This event is free, open to the public and kid friendly.
