The Gingko Tree has tolerated and survived adverse conditions; for over 270 million years.

It is a powerful symbol of physical and spiritual nourishment, transformation and liberation.

The ability for an individual and their community to survive and flourish in adverse conditions is Re•sil•ience.

The Artist:

John-Michael Korpal has exhibited throughout the Midwest. His work has been featured at the Grunwald Gallery of Art – Kinsey Institute, Morpho Gallery and Governor’s State University.

Korpal was honored to receive Illinois Arts Council’s IAS Professional Development Grant in 2014 & 2019. In spring of 2018 he completed the Visual Art Certificate Program from Graham School-University of Chicago and is currently participating in the Center Program at Hyde Park Art Center.

Korpal is a member of the Rogers Park Art Alliance, Chicago Calligraphy Collective, West Ridge Artists and Third Estate Art.
