Mar 30th 2019

Join us for an all-ages FRESH INK community workshop co-facilitated by 826CHI and the Writer’s Studio at the University of Chicago Graham School!

Are you ready to expand your style? Would you like to play on the page in new ways? Starting with real-life experience, this workshop will guide you to transform your work from fact to fiction to fantastical. Using emotional truth as a through line, we will move through these different modes of writing as we reflect on the purpose these transformations can serve and the discoveries we can make when we exercise our stylistic agility. This workshop will be co-taught by Natasha Mijares & Sarah Terez Rosenblum.

Natasha Mijares is an artist, writer, curator, and educator. She received her MFA in Writing from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She has exhibited at MECA International Art Fair in Puerto Rico, The Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design, TCC Chicago, and Locust Projects. She has been published in Container, Vinyl Poetry, The Gravity of the Thing, and Hypertext Magazine.

Sarah Terez Rosenblum is a Pushcart-nominated writer whose work has appeared in publications and on sites such as Third Coast, Underground Voices, Protons/Neutrons, kill author, The Boiler, The Satirist, Pop Matters, Afterellen.com, XOJane, Salon.com, and The Chicago Sun Times. Her novel, “Herself When She’s Missing was called “devastating and beautiful” by Booklist. She holds an MFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and is a creative coach as well as an instructor at the University of Chicago Writer’s Studio. Up next, she is teaching Basic Creative Writing, Jumpstart Session: Your Life’s Work, and more!
