Black Mental Wellness Expo
12:00pm – 6pm
The Black Wellness Expo is back with more resources, vendors, workshops and opportunities for us as a community to educate, advocate and inspire. The Black Wellness Expo is a community expo seeking to address stigma and shame associate with mental illness in the black community; as well as connect African Americans adults and youth to quality providers, empower and inform on how to take charge of their mental health. Held in partnership with Healthy Living; a collaborative of Hyde Park Art Center, Chicago Hyde Park Village , University of Chicago SHARE Network, and Off the Pews.

Cream Co. Plant Exchange
10:00am – 2:00pm
100 Plants, 100 Purposes
Join us for this Saturday as we countdown the day by exchanging plants for purposes. One by one, as each plant finds it’s purpose, we will celebrate the collective value of communal rhythms. What does it all add up to? Affirmative Agency, Broader Bonds, and Compassionate Connections! So come early and claim your purpose. Even though supplies are limited, the rewards are endless!

Body Talk with Amina Ross

“Body Talk” is an experimental panel and event hosted by Amina Ross in partnership with Hyde Park Art Center. Ross invites local artists, and practitioners in fields such as photography, sculpture, music, meditation, & performance to lead a discussion around embodied liberatory practices. Throughout the event creative practitioners will focus on approaches to the body as a concept and material reality. Within their emerging body of work Ross reflects on ways their/her practice can facilitate exchange and push the boundaries of our physical presence.This event seeks the creative space for cross-disciplinary discussions around liberating, healing, and abstracting the human body.

Creative Wing, 2nd Floor
Stop into the studio of International Visiting Artists Yane Calovski + Hristina Ivanoska from Macedonia and Peggy Pierrot, in our Flex Space from France. Chicago based artists Damon Locks, Yoonshin Park, Christine Forni, Max Guy, & more will also have their studio doors open for you to investigate their practice.

When We Move: Dialogue & Performance
3:00pm
Join Move Me Soul, Artistic Director Ayesha Jaco in Damon Lock’s studio for a dialogue on dance and collaborating as well as the traditions and intentions behind the work followed with a performance by Move Me Soul dancers with music by Locks.

Sketchbook Project
1pm – 5pm

Join us as we host the Brooklyn Art Library’s Sketchbook Project mobile art van that houses over 40,000 sketchbooks shelves and over 20,000 in their digital library. Fusing the digital with the analog to create a one of a kind experience for artists and visitors, that has been crowd-sourced from every corner of the world.
