This workshop investigates on the Queen of Swords and other tarot archetypes as symbols that can be used to heal and protect from, and ultimately transform, trauma, especially that related to sexual violence. We will examine notions of victimhood, power, and availability in a patriarchal society, and how to release judgement from past experiences. The Queen of Swords is a sharp, masterful ally, that has seen her share of sadness and acts with confidence in order to serve truth. The Queen of Swords is accessible to all of us through connecting with our higher selves and choosing to face our darkest fears.

This program is made possible in part by a grant from Illinois Humanities, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Illinois General Assembly.
