Ignacio Zaragoza. Friedrich von Steuben. Tadeusz Kosciuszko.

Their names sound very different, but there is something these three men have in common: they have all become legends. In this multi-media workshop, in collaboration with the Polish Museum of America, the OPEN Center for the Arts and DANK Haus German American Cultural Center, explore what happens when three legendary figures from three different cultures come to life and understand the way they are remembered today. Visual artists will capture the essence of each legend and transform it into a unique, artistic expression, then invite the audience to create their own art. This will be the foundation for a lively dialogue and shared exploration of issues such as cultural heritage, the relation of truth to fantasy, and a community’s need for legends.
Admission: $10

This program is a part of the Chicago Cultural Alliance’s Inherit Chicago. Inherit Chicago is a city wide festival of art, ideas and performance at neighborhood heritage museums and cultural centers. Head to InheritChicago.org for a full list of events!
