Closing reception for two-person show featuring works by Kate O’Neill and Eric Claridge.
O’Neill presents two site-specific installations: a suspended ceiling constructed of two-way mirrors and a mirrored backdrop placed inside the Rainbo photo booth. Photographs taken in the booth and donated to the artist will be used in a catalogue produced after the exhibition. O’Neill’s practice takes form in photographs, sculpture, and works on paper. She is a Lecturer in the Department of Photography at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Claridge’s paintings and drawings are a favorite at Rainbo, and are featured annually. He is a self-taught artist and musician living and working in Chicago. Born in Memphis, Tennessee Claridge attended New York University in the 80’s. He began painting in 1993 during the formation of the Sea and Cake, with work featured prominently on several albums. Claridge’s water colors, gouaches and oils have been exhibited in Chicago, Tokyo, Kyoto, London, Melbourne, Lille and Paris. His ink drawings were published in the Chicago Reader.
