Ritual No. 3 I AM I
“Existence really is an imperfect tense that never becomes a present.” -Friedrich Nietzsche
By Todd Frugia and Marrakesh
I AM I is a new performance installation that explores the idea of existence as both the viewer and performer experience the flux between “question” and “answer.” A single female performer is draped in massive swaths of black material as she repeats her simple two word mantra of being to the rhythm of a slow moving metronome. Like a pair of ancient obelisks, the performer and metronome seem to be perpetually locked in a minimalist dialogue of monumental scope.
RITUAL NO. 3 I AM I is free and open to the public for one night only Friday October 12th doors are open from 6-10pm, inviting audience members to come and go as they please, as part of 2nd Friday presented by The Chicago Arts District at ROOMS Gallery now located at 1835 South Halsted St Chicago, IL 60608.
