Join us for an exclusive public reading of MACHA: A Pocha Sister Story! Macha, which was recommended on Steppenwolf’s The Mix List, is a love letter for Mexican daughters who have never been enough. The play zooms in on the interior complexities of sisterhood, broken promises, and the intimate conversations that unravel between three messy sisters on an ordinary day without parents, brothers, or distractions. Stuck among boxes, the sisters grapple with the inevitable question: What is holding us back?

The evening includes a live table reading and a moderated talk-back where we will dive deep into the genesis of this play, the new works process, and the themes. The free reading will take place at the National Museum of Mexican Art on Thursday, December 15th at 7:00 pm and will be approximately 90 minutes, no intermission.

The National Museum of Mexican Art in tandem with Nancy Garcia Loza are proud grantees of Association of Performing Arts Professionals (APAP) ArtsForward. Funding from APAP, made possible with the generous support of The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, will fuel a stronger, more equitable way of working as the performing arts ecosystem recovers. #ArtsForward
