This August, Perspective Gallery is pleased to present recent work by two of its veteran members, Jeffrie Chirchirillo and Verna Peterson Todd.

The title of Jeffrie Chirchirillo’s series is “’Bad Weather Makes for Good Photography”…Ansel Adams. This iconic quote was not only the inspiration for this work, it also provided motivation. In his series, Chirchirillo explores Chicago’s Lincoln Park during a raging snowstorm. Despite the many technical and physical challenges which the storm presented, he was able to produce a compelling body of work.

Verna Peterson Todd’s exhibit We Left Home, began as a way for her to know her quiet dad more deeply. Exactly 100 years ago, her father emigrated as a 17-year-old from the Swedish area of Finland to Hoquiam, Washington. From family photographs, her dad’s diaries and stories, trips to the old country, and elderly family members’ remembrances, Todd has created a photographic history of her father’s journey. Her series also explores the influences that shaped the man he became – folk culture, history, religion, immigration issues and family tragedy.

The show opens on Thursday, August 4, 2022. There will be a public reception on Saturday, August 6, 4-7 p.m.; masks will be required. The exhibit will close on Sunday, August 28.
