Jul 13th 2022

Join us for a conversation between Architreasures‘ Executive Director, Manwah Lee and Key Change exhibiting artist, Isabel Strauss of Riff Studio. The conversation will kick off with presentations of each of their creative placemaking work within Bronzville, Chicago.

Architreasures’ place-based art and design initiatives serve as a catalyst to holistic community development. Over a year or longer, we partner with stakeholders to implement creative strategies-including design/build projects, public artwork and/or community arts programming that strengthen neighborhood capacity. Grounded by local histories, cultural assets and aspirations of a community, our placekeeping/placemaking efforts nurture collaborative processes and creative synergies to evolve and grow thriving neighborhoods.

Isabel Strauss is currently a Space and Society Fellow at Mass Design Group. She is recipient of the 2021 Clifford Wong Prize in Housing and was nominated for an Irving Innovation Fellowship that same year. Strauss worked to establish the African American Design Nexus with the Frances Loeb Library in 2017 and contributed to research for the Harvard and the Legacy of Slavery Project from 2020 to 2021. Strauss holds a master’s degree in architecture from the Harvard Graduate School of Design and received her Bachelor of Arts in the History of Art and Architecture from Harvard College. She is from Chicago’s South side.
