This coming Thursday, February 24th from 6PM — 9PM, we will be welcoming Britni Mara to Fulton Market Kitchen! She will be painting and showcasing her artwork to our guests throughout the dinner service.
Britni Mara is a visual artist living and working in Chicago, Illinois. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Bradley University and was a post-baccalaureate student at the Siena Art Institute in Siena, Italy.
Britni’s work has long revolved around dissecting weighty topics. She has found a way to highlight those topics by altering her medium and remaining true to her love for abstraction. In a time where an artists’ visual aesthetic is not new, but rather is shared; she believes it is extremely important to bolster meaning over visuals. Different bodies of work over the last decade have tackled topics like sustainability, self-sexualization, and femininity.
She creates large abstract paintings as a way to free her mind and views the creation process as mediation. Her acrylic work is an embodiment of self and illustrates her desire to control the chaos found around her. An intuitive painter, almost nothing she paints in planned but rather the artist allows it to develop in the moment.
