Option Talks Music: Cecilia Lopez and Joe Moffett
Meet Cecilia Lopez (composer/multimedia artist) and Joe Moffett (trumpeter/improviser) who together have been collaborating since 2018 when Cecilia’s Machinic Fantasies premiered at Roulette Intermedium in Brooklyn, NY. In their duo, they continue to explore methods of distorting, deconstructing, and merging their instruments in unconventional ways.
Caprichos (Cecilia and Joe’s debut release as a duo ensemble on Tripticks Tapes) is a collection of improvised pieces for synthesizer and amplified trumpet. Brusque, mercurial, and intense, Caprichos lurches from circuit-bent gurgles to horn blasts to waves of static, making for an unpredictable listening experience.
Tune in on Monday, November 15th at 8pm Chicago time to hear the discussion, ask questions in the chat, and listen to Cecilia and Joe perform and discuss their creative ideas and background with Option curator Andrew Clinkman
The Option series is presented as part of Experimental Sound Studio’s virtual concerts every Monday. Link to this program below.
