Paintings and sculptures created between 2019-2021, documenting growing up on the Southside. Where did people go? What did we wear? What did we watch? How did/do we feel? What moments do we share in common? All this and more is covered in “Mookie on The southside” an Art exhibit and Pop up shop by Pugs Atomz. Soundtrack by DJ Slot A. Powered by USUWE93.com.
Muralist. Painter, Musician, Designer. A true Hip Hop renaissance man, his art and music has been featured in movies, sporting events, video games, and Public Arts around the USA. He has been able to tour the world performing his deep catalog and along the way his art has taken many forms.. from greeting cards, to album covers, clothing, logos, graffiti, music videos, to deep dives into sculpture, and oil painting at SAIC. His inspiration stems from his family, growing up in Englewood seeing the performers on the green line train, the murals and graffiti in his neighborhood.
His artistic push is to document his time/the time. Representation, the colors and the details. The details are those pieces in the picture/video that tell you what year it is, status, temperament, the context clues. Through video, painting, textile and teaching Pugs has been doing this for more than 25 years.
