Recuerdos explores the complexities that are generated by the expansion of a quinceañera’s cultural celebration. Recuerdos includes various paintings, sculptures and textiles while serving as the performance space for the artists. Surrounded by a historically industrialized landscape with a huge immigrant population, the work aims to reconcile intangible nostalgia. The exhibition focuses on the relationship that the participating artists have with their adolescence while forefronting human interaction and responding to their neglect, and lack of self-acceptance. The exhibition defies social assumptions about queerness, femme identity, first-generation identity, and cultural customs.
Recuerdos is a group exhibition featuring works by Juan Arango Palacios, Lissette Bustamante and Moises Salazar.
