Apr 24th 2021

All Star Press is proud to present “In Between” featuring new original and print works by Chicago artist Liz
Flores, opening virtually Saturday, April 24th, 2021.

“In Between” explores the gap periods and transitions in life through symbols of transformation and growth. Inspired by the idea of ‘Bardo’ a word encountered by the artist while reading a memoir by Susie Herrick, is commonly referred to when discussing the intermediate state between death and rebirth in Tibetan Buddhism. This concept can refer to any time of transition, whether at the end of one event or the beginning of the next. These ‘in-between’ moments or gaps can interrupt the continuity that we otherwise project onto our lives and one the artist hopes to discover.

Liz Flores is a Chicago-based artist and muralist, painting the human form through shapes and colors. Working primarily with acrylic paint on canvas, her work is a reaction to life, an emotion, or a memory.

Flores’ murals can be found throughout the Chicagoland Area and New York City. In addition to working with private and commercial clients like Lululemon and Sephora, she has shared her story on the TEDx Stage, titled “You Are Made For More,” and brought an interactive art installation titled ‘The World We Want’ to Chicago’s Michigan Avenue.
