Aspect/Ratio Projects is pleased to present Already Gone, a new body of work from artist Adam Daley Wilson. This show questions what has been forgotten, what may now be lost, and what, if anything, it means to remember again. Daley Wilson presents various scenes of forgetting and remembering, from looking inward at our self-perceptions to externally, how we present ourselves to the world both individually and collectively. At play in each painting are the conscious acts of intentional forgetting, remembering, and misremembering. Daley Wilson explores these acts through art historical references in scenes told in the voices of literature’s accepted narrators, from a first person’s individual desperation to both remember and forget, to a third person’s detached observation of what may now be lost, to an omniscient declarative statement of what may be utterly forgotten the moment we collectively are gone.

Adam Daley Wilson is a self-taught conceptual artist who lives and works in Maine. His practice is strongly in- formed by his Bipolar 1 diagnosis and includes painting, installations, multi-media, and video. Using a cognitive text-based process, Daley Wilson pushes words to their full extent while allowing space for interpretation. This is Daley Wilson’s first solo show with Aspect/Ratio Projects and his first show in Chicago. His work is in multiple corporate and private collections located throughout the United States and internationally.
