During this month’s screenings of Fôret and My Mattachine from Chicagoland Shorts Vol. 6, featured filmmakers Lisa Barcy and Martin Mulcahy join producer Rocío Santos in conversation, diving into their filmmaking process, philosophy, and future projects.

Lisa Barcy is an independent filmmaker and artist who has been awarded the Director’s Citation twice at the Black Maria Film Festival, and Best Animation at both the Chicago Underground Film Festival and the Ann Arbor Film Festival. Her films include The Guilt Trip, or The Vaticans Take a Holiday, Mermaid, The Ordovicians, and Anonanimal, a music video for Andrew Bird. Barcy has also created large puppets for several Chicago-based theater companies.

Martin Mulcahy creates visual essays exploring memory, identity, and location through experimental mixed media: animation, found imagery, film, video, and sound.

Rocío Santos is host, producer, and curator at Domingos en Vocalo—Vocalo’s (91.1FM) Spanish-language programming that broadcasts on Sundays and specializes in Latin-alternative indie music, arts, and culture for the Latinx community.
