Presented in conjunction with the AWM’s special exhibit My America: Immigrant and Refugee Writers Today, this program is part of the Jeanne M. & John W. Rowe program series, a series of conversations with leading contemporary writers about their latest work and their thoughts on themes of identity, home, belonging and the meaning of what it is to be American.

Winner of the top prize for the 2019 Watty Awards, Historically Inaccurate follows the story of Soledad “Sol” Gutierrez, as she attempts to keep her life together after her mother’s deportation. Even with her schoolwork, a part-time job, and the pressure of her family being broken apart, Sol joins The History Club, and soon finds herself embroiled in a number of adventures that ultimately change the course of her life forever.
