Sam Contis’ work explores gender, landscape, and
the enduring myth of the American West in order to situate her images within the larger framework of photo-history. Her work has been exhibited widely and is represented in many prominent collections including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art; the Museum of Modern Art, New York; the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; among others.
Lectures in Photography are co-presented by MoCP and the Photography Department at Columbia College Chicago.
