Brave Futures: An Intersectional TV Showcase is a screening and talkback on how to develop and distribute TV/film by and for artists & communities who are multiply marginalized locally and globally. This program is a session at this year’s virtual Allied Media Conference.
This screening features 2-4 short films that were produced in Berlin, Germany and Johannesburg, South Africa as a part of our Brave Futures films races there in December, 2019 and February, 2020 respectively.
The screening will be followed by a discussion among OTV’s Black queer, trans and non-binary team, including executive director and co-founder Eli Micky, head of exhibition Chris Walker, and head of community Jenna Anast, moderated by co-founder and head of research & development Aymar Jean Christian.
Our discussion will unpack how we produce high-quality intersectional content on low budgets, how we leverage the local Chicago community to build equity in the arts and in Hollywood, and how we are expanding globally, including in Africa and Germany while staying true to our focus on building local capacity for women, queer and artists of color.
