Join us for a screening of videos by Abbéy Odunlami, Katie Wood, Allison Yasukawa, and Mikey Peterson. Abbéy Odunlami & the Pepo La Tumaini community-made video reimagines Nollywood film aesthetics through an East-Africa folklore. Wood explores territoriality through human and non-human sounds. Yasukawa’s video explores the linguistic, material, and corporeal performance of America as an imagined community among broader constructions of “the West,” in Senegal, West Africa. And Peterson’s visual and audio distortions offer meditations of spaces where urban and nature intermingle. The screening will start at 6:30 pm and a discussion with the artists will follow. A Zoom link will be shared closer to the event date.
