Gallery Talk with Maite Borjabad

Maite Borjabad, Neville Bryan Assistant Curator of Architecture and Design at the Art Institute of Chicago, will give a gallery talk centered on Assemble’s expansive approach to architecture and design.

This event is presented on behalf of the exhibition Tufting Gun Tapestries and is free and open to the public.

ABOUT MAITE BORJABAD
Maite Borjabad López-Pastor is a Spanish architect and curator based in Chicago whose work revolves around diverse forms of critical spatial practices, operating across the disciplines of architecture, art and performance. She is currently Curator in the Architecture and Design Department at the Art Institute of Chicago where she curated the exhibition My Building, Your Design: Seven Portraits by David Hartt (2018), co-curated Past Forward: Architecture and Design at the Art Institute (2017), and takes care of an evolving contemporary art collection with new acquisitions and commissions. Borjabad has taught at University of Illinois at Chicago, Barnard College, and Columbia University – GSAPP, and has served as a guest critic in several architecture schools, including Harvard-GSD, University of Pennsylvania, Pratt Institute, Cornell University and Illinois Institute of Technology. Her work has been published in diverse media such as Pin-Up Magazine, Domus, Dezeen, Metalocus, Yorokobu, e-flux, the Chicago Tribune, La Tempestad, and BBC Culture/El Cultural. Borjabad graduated as an architect from the Polytechnic University of Madrid and holds a M.S. in Critical, Curatorial and Conceptual Practices in Architecture from Columbia University, New York.
