Wounded Healer Art Therapy Workshop 2

@ Build Coffee

6100 S Blackstone Ave, Chicago IL 60637

Opening Sunday, September 8th, from 5PM - 6:30PM

On view through Sunday, September 8th

Due to overwhelming demand for Naimah Thomas’s first workshop, we’re adding a second date!

Build Coffee artist-in-residence Naimah Thomas will lead a workshop in conjunction with her current show, Wounded Healer.

**This event is free and open to the public but space is limited. Please RSVP above if you plan to attend.**

Wounded healer is a term created by psychologist Carl Jung. The idea states that an analyst is compelled to treat patients because the analyst himself is “wounded”. The idea may have origins in Greek mythology.

This workshop invites people to think about how their experiences may or may not shape how we navigate the world around us. Engaging in the creative process provides a space to explore a person’s intersecting identities and how we all are capable of supporting ourselves as we work in collaboration with others. We will collectively engage in the creative process through expression, discussion, and vulnerability. Within this space, we potentially create together all will be encouraged to be brave, inclusive, and serve as a creative act of resistance.

Naimah will provide art supplies. No previous artistic skill/training is required.
