Following her 2017 solo exhibition “In Rehearsal”, New York-based performance artist Autumn Knight returns to KAM for “Documents”, an examination of documentation that serves to authenticate and legitimize citizenship.

The reading is interactive in conversation with the audience, who together address embodied specificities of race, class, and gender to contest whether these categories accurately reflect the bodies they are meant to represent. “Documents” underlines how different audiences and relationships to power may influence this reading.

This event is the first in a two-day artist residency on campus by Autumn Knight to launch the book “Autumn Knight: In Rehearsal” co-published by Krannert Art Museum and Project Row Houses, Houston. See all events at https://kam.illinois.edu/events.
