Korean Cultural Center of Chicago announces Eye Kill You, a solo exhibition featuring Tk Suh.
Looking into people’s eyes makes us their intention, to empathize with their emotion, and to search for sincerity. We meet up with lover’s eyes as an evidence of our love, but we also stare at liar’s eyes searching for truths.
In his recent series of paintings featured in Eye Kill You, Tk Suh explores the staring capabilities from one eye to another. Suh’s figures tell stories through their gaze; they become more potent as their eyes stare down at the viewers. Meeting eyes with his figures through painting shifts the observation into a conversational encounter, a confrontation with another Suh who does not want to be recognized.
