Please join us for the Grand Opening of our first ever You Are Beautiful flagship location, YAB HQ. The entire building (gallery & wood shop) will be open to the public for one night only.
The workshop in the back is normally not open to the public, but for the grand opening, you’ll be able to tour the entire space!
Please come & celebrate with us! We are overjoyed for this milestone, and want to give everyone who has gotten us here hugs & high fives!
A little bit about the building
YAB HQ is a pie slice shaped building, just under 5,000 square feet. The front of the building features a street level retail space which houses our merchandise & gallery work. The back half of the building is where we make our large installations & small editions.
This has been a long time coming, and a mammoth undertaking. To put it in perspective, we have previously been working out of Matthew’s house in his 2 car garage for the last few years. With the generous support of Baum Revision, we were able to make this next big step.
We hope you’ll come celebrate this new achievement, and help us thank those who have gotten us to this point.
A little bit about Avondale
We love the Avondale neighborhood, and we’re drawn to the mix of old industrial & new ideas popping up. We met with Deb Mell, and offered to donate a You Are Beautiful installation to a local school in the area. Grover Cleveland Elementary reached out, and we installed a piece both in English & Spanish. We were thrilled to be able to make an impact in the community so quickly.
A little bit about Matthew Hoffman & You Are Beautiful
Matthew Hoffman is a Chicago based artist & designer whose public works have been exhibited internationally. His ideas and work have been included in Good, the New York Times Magazine, and Ready Made. He has been published in books by Gestalten, Droog, and Taschen, and was featured in a segment on the Oprah network.
Matthew has created large scale public installations for the City of Chicago, Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway Conservancy, Albright Knox Gallery, as well as companies like Apple, Facebook, Zappos, & Cards Against Humanity. There are close to 30 outdoor installations currently up in the Chicagoland area.
Matthew is the Custodian of You Are Beautiful, a project to better the world in little ways. The message has reached every corner of the globe, with over 5 million stickers shared by the community. The hope is for us to share uplifting thoughts with each other.
