SECOND FRIDAY OPEN STUDIOS EVENT

Tour the Fine Arts Building Studios! We open our doors to the public from 5 to 9 on the evening of the second Friday of every month to connect with the community and share our work in a casual and relaxed setting. We recommend starting your tour by taking an elevator to the 10th floor, and then take the stairs down, stopping at each of the Open Studios for a unique cultural and architectural experience.

The following studios are participating in our Friday, December 14th event:
927 – Ossia Musical Forum: Catch an impromptu chamber music performance, or stop by to chat!

924 – Christine Bishop Art: Paintings on display and for sale.

916 – Jim Tansley Art: Holiday sale prices on all paintings, starting at $100. Wide variety of colorful images, framed and unframed. Take home a piece of art that will delight your friends and family.

904 – Performers Music: Our selection of sheet music is mostly classical, but we also carry jazz, vocal standards, and show tunes, with a wide variety of method books and studies. We cater to professional performers, teachers, and students of all levels.

828 – Brian Robson Art: Open 5 to 9 pm. Showing a selection of 1980’s Airbrushed Poster Art. Join us for seasonal refreshment whilst reminiscing the post-punk era of disposable adolescent poster art.

632B – Davin Youngs Voice: Holiday Circle Singing from 6:30 to 8 pm. Join Davin Youngs and friends of Chicago Circle Singing for an improvised singing adventure. You can think about Circle Singing as a jam session or drum circle for the voice. Participants are led into improvised singing circles by leaders who spontaneously create sung patterns. Eventually the parts will join in tandem to create an orchestra of voices and spontaneous song. The outcome will be singing, dancing, play and joy! No experience is necessary and all voices are welcome! Pop in at any time to join in improvised song.

543 – Lou Ann Burkhardt Art: Paintings and Drawings on display and for sale, 6 to 9 pm.

519 – Kevin Moeller Art: Featuring painting series Women. With free pizza at 7 pm, live music and poetry reading beginning at 9 pm.

514 – Shakta Kaur Yoga: Every half hour; 5:30 to 8 pm, melt your stress away with a three minute meditation and gong relaxation!

418 – Catherine Keebler Art: Encaustic Monotypes | Many new print works on sale from 5 to 8 pm.

210 – The Dial Bookshop: Open 5 to 9 pm, and we’ve invited some friends to make the night more merry! Mouse Books will be here selling their pocket-sized books and Shelby Rodeffer will be painting custom ornaments.

207 – L. H. Selman Paperweight Gallery: Open 5 to 9 pm, offering light bites and some refreshments. Peruse our glass sculpture studio to find everything from casual gifts to museum quality artworks, ranging from the antique to the contemporary. Handmade worlds that you can hold in your hand!
