PART 5/7: ON FIBS
[recited by proxy]
Lie number one came and went in the form of a joy—a joy I did not and could not have felt. Of a person whom you dislike, what is there to do? A shrewd mouth remains shut because any description would tell only an ugly portrait of one’s own image. But in silence—any silence unwilling—the silenced leaves slightly impaired. Breach the threshold of silenced once-too-many and silenced is suddenly hollow: a toy.
The second lie has been deemed inseparable from teller.
