Rustling autumn leaves always seem to draw out the city’s restless ghosts. Fortunately, our talented team of Atlas Obscura Society Chicago Field Agents recently invented a device that turns the murmurs of their haunted souls into… well, English. The bad news? Our team is overwhelmed with their requests! Join us on a scavenger hunt for the ages as you tackle a series of historical clues designed to help you discover stories of the city’s past and put a few rumors (and spirits) to rest along the way.

Take on on the tasks as a two-person team, or test your mettle solo: either way, this epic hunt promises to send you scavenging for the history of spurned socialites, grotesque ornament, long-forgotten businesses, anguished architects, and terrible disasters.

Don’t forget to charge your phone! Our well-crafted clues can’t be solved with a simple Google search, but you’re likely to need some internet assistance to help you find the answers you seek. The final stop will land you in a mystery location, where you can expect to join Field Agent Patti Swanson (and your competitors) for a drink. Our winning team receives a special prize—losers, we’ll buy your first beverage.
