“An Artist’s Changing View”
An Exhibit of Acrylics and Mixed Media Works by Terrance Johnson
The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
The Elmhurst Artists’ Guild (EAG) will host An Artist’s Changing View, featuring original paintings and mixed media art by Terrance Johnson. This is a solo exhibit. Johnson is a largely self-taught artist who refuses to be categorized as having one type of artistic style. Instead, he embraces the evolving nature of his work, which has moved through disparate phases over time as the artist and the world around him have changed.
“I jokingly told my friend that I thought of myself as a ‘Distortionist,” Johnson stated, “My works always begin with figurative images, classical or contemporary, and lead to some kind of distortion, often dictated by the act of painting itself…” His artistic influences include his background in the theatre, the digital age, and even his interest in Buddhism.
The show runs August 12th through September 7th. EAG Gallery hours at the Elmhurst Art Museum: Tuesday through Sunday from 11 am to 5 pm. Admission is $12 adults / $10 seniors / free for EAM and EAG members, students and children under 18. All visitors are admitted free on the first Friday of each month.
