This program is part of the closing reception for the exhibition “Everyday Resistance: The Art of Living in Black Chicago” on view at the Arts Incubator through July 6, 2018. The South Side Home Movie Project (SSHMP) is a five-part initiative to collect, preserve, digitize, exhibit, and research home movies made by residents of Chicago’s South Side neighborhoods. SSHMP collects 16-mm, 8-mm, and Super-8 films, converts them to digital files, compiles oral histories from donor families, and makes the films viewable online on the SSHMP Digital Archive.
