All Star Press presents New Shapes featuring works by Michelle Miller, Jayes Caitlin, and Chad Kouri opening Saturday, February 3rd 6-9pm.
Michelle Miller is a Los Angeles based printmaker and painter. Miller graduated with a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2015 and then moved to Boulder, Colorado, making work as a member at Art Gym in Denver. Recently Miller spent time as an artist in residence at Kala Art Institute in Berkeley, California and was later a selected muralist for the city of Boulders Bike Path. Currently living in Los Angeles as a studio member now at Heavy Gel print shop in Culver City, Michelle Miller continues to challenge composition and color in a continuing series of large scale vibrant and abstract prints.
Jayes Caitlin is an abstract artist and designer currently working in Los Angeles, California. Caitlin’s recent projects utilize screen printing, collage, painting, fibers, and publishing. Many of their works share an abstract aesthetic for bright colors, shapes, heavy mark making, and graphic vocabulary. Jayes Caitlin spends time working out of the Heavy Gel studio in Los Angeles producing records, tapes, art prints, gig posters, originals, and artist books.
Chad Kouri is an American artist from a small town north of Detroit, currently living and working in Chicago where he maintains a studio art and design practice while actively participating in the thriving art community on both a local and international level. His decade-long curatorial and collaborative efforts as part of The Post Family have played a large part in creating national and international dialog around Chicago and it’s world-class creative community. His projects range in diversity from one of a kind and editioned artwork to self-publishing, interactive displays, large-scale installations, design direction and consulting, book design and most recently, an exploration of painting.
New Shapes runs February 3rd, 2018 – February 17th, 2018
with an opening reception February 3rd 6-9pm.
