062 is pleased to present North Branch Projects’ Community Binding during 3rd Fridays at 062 in Zhou B Art Center. As part of their mission to expand peoples’ creative reach through the book arts, Community Binding is offered as a shared endeavor to bring people together in a comfortable, welcoming setting where craft and social interaction combine. Each session is open for 1-2 hours and allows participants to gain experience and knowledge in hand bookbinding techniques. All materials and tools are provided and no experience is necessary.

The goal of community binding is to assemble an ongoing collection of hand-made books known as the Neighborhood Archive. Participants are asked to make two books; one to keep as a takeaway and the other to give back to the group collection and be enjoyed by others. At the Zhou B Art Center, participants will be making a variety of single-sheet folds and pamphlet stitch books (some as ongoing zines projects).
