Art in Common Cause is proud to present Unpresidented: Chicago Edition, a benefit pop-up exhibition enabling artists to present and sell their work in order to support each artist’s chosen institution.
In light of the current political climate, with many important government agencies in danger of being severely cut back or defunded and nonprofit organizations facing a host of new challenges, artists are eager to find ways to give back and support the causes that are important to them. For Unpresidented, the majority of the sales of each donated piece will be given to each artist’s selected charity or organization. With over 30 participating artists from the Chicagoland area, showing a broad range of aesthetic styles, and supporting local, national, and international causes, Unpresidented gives artists the agency to use their creations to directly affect positive change.
Art in Common Cause hosted the first Unpresidented exhibition at the SPACE 900 gallery in Evanston, IL, in March of 2017. Sales from the show generated over $4,000 in donations for nine causes and created a sense of optimism that is hard to measure.
The Hubbard Street Lofts is a large complex housing artist’s studios and exhibition spaces. It is located in Chicago’s burgeoning West Town neighborhood. (westhubbardlofts.squarespace.com)
