FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Kobe Jordon Kaine : UrBan Terrorist Opens July 7th at Elephant Room Gallery

Chicago, Il: Chicago-based artist Kobe Jordon Kaine will be exhibiting in his first ever solo exhibition at Elephant Room Gallery this July. Kobe Jordon Kaine : UrBan Terrorist is the result of the past few years of personal reflection and action for the artist who has created pieces that reflect both a proficiency in his medium and a strong sense of self-awareness as it relates to past and present society.

Kobe Jordon Kaine : UrBan Terrorist is a body of conceptual works created from mostly found and recycled objects. Contemporary sociopolitical ideas are expressed in visual form by merging aestheticism, appropriation and abstraction. Ideas are explored by creating repetitive pattern works from mundane objects that carry allegory, create tension and excite aesthetic emotion. Kaine uses these various materials that represent childhood memories, coming of age and current issues as a way to mend wounds and bridge gaps. “I desire to dispel the Eurocentric ideology of what it means to be an American by recreating poverty and inner-city living into something beautiful. There is an outdated mentality belonging to those who hold positions of power and authority and I want to disrupt that.” – Kaine

The title UrBan Terrorist is a way to take hold of a term that has been used to further segregate people and use it to describe a body of work that demonstrates urban life as experienced through one artist. Kaine uses the word insight to describe his energy while creating this work and the purpose is to bring insight to viewers on what divides us and how we can heal.

Kobe Jordon Kaine : UrBan Terrorist opens with a reception on Friday, July 7th from 6pm to 9pm at Elephant Room Gallery. The exhibition runs through July 29th and open hours can be found on the gallery’s website: www.elephantroomgallery.com The gallery is located at 704 S Wabash Ave. in the South Loop of Chicago.
