Opening Friday, April 21st, from 6PM - 9PM
gallery no one is pleased to present a solo show, “What do you call the bottom of a boat? ” by Emily Simpson.
“What do you call the bottom of a boat?” investigates in pursuit of little reminders of existential inquiries manifesting in everything from to-do lists to space travel. The work takes a look at our self-mythologizing tendencies, and weaves a new narrative that includes the setting of the story as an active character in the plot. “What do you call the bottom of a boat?” derives meaning from found objects, images, and text to construct a fictitious archaeology. Responding to materiality, the artist has constructed work to contextualize and poetically investigate.
