Woman Made Gallery is pleased to invite you to our annual fall benefit Beyond the Dinner Party. Named after the iconic feminist artwork The Dinner Party by Judy Chicago, the objective of this event is to bring together artists, curators, collectors, and patrons of the arts in support and celebration of Chicago’s creative community.
In its previous iterations, Beyond the Dinner Party has been dedicated to honoring women in the contemporary visual arts. But this year accolades will extend beyond work created for the gallery setting, and will highlight the creative contributions of women in Chicago’s booming art, food, beverage, and music industries.
Beyond the Dinner Party is thematically structured around our two concurrent solo exhibitions of Adele Supreme and Caroline Jacobson. Both artists explore the liminal spaces between the realms of drawing, painting, and performance as they push the conventions of representation of the female figure. Live performances by local artists and opportunities for guests to participate in live painting will take place throughout the night.
FOOD + BEVERAGE
Although WMG is known historically for supporting women in the visual contemporary arts, we have expanded our advocacy to women entrepreneurs working across all creative fields, including the culinary arts. For this year’s benefit we are excited to present a curated selection of food + desserts + beverages by women chefs (and/or from women-run establishments) in Chicago.
BRING YOUR OWN GAMES (BYOG)
To complement the whimsicality of the two solo exhibitions, WMG will provide a various selection of board and card games to play from throughout the night. Guests are welcome to bring their own!
To stay consistent with the “woman made” theme, Beyond the Dinner Party will feature tunes spun by female DJs in Chicago.
