Mason Cosmo Pott (b. 1991) is an American visual artist known for his figurative paintings and minimalist sculptures that examine traumatic experiences related to physical and mental illness, medical treatment and the healthcare industry. His work draws from personal account and Baroque and Neoclassical traditions to create images of surgical procedures, the aftermath of life-threatening experiences, and the balance between a patient’s physical and mental health. The work often uses materials such as syringes, hospital gowns and other medical supplies to inform the narrative of the subject matter. Pott earned his BFA from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2015 and is currently based in Chicago. A portion of proceeds from his work are donated to the Cancer Research Institute. He has exhibited in galleries throughout the Midwest and his work is held in private collections in Chicago, New York, and Paris.
