Prom Night

@ Chicago Art Department

1932 S. Halsted, Chicago, IL 60608

Opening Saturday, February 14th, from 7PM - 11PM

“Prom Night” is a party co-hosted by Autotelic Studios, Sixty Inches From Center and The Perch. This magical night offers Chicagoans another shot at the high school dance—and this time, the chaperones will be more forgiving, fashion-sense more sophisticated and all of the alcohol will be legal. (Sorry kids, this is a 21+ event.)

WHAT & WHERE:
It’s all set to happen at Chicago Art Department in Pilsen which will be transformed into a romantic high school gymnasium for the glamorous proceedings. That means streamers, balloons, and a professional photographer to immortalize the moment with a precious photograph to send home to mum. CHIRP – Chicago Independent Radio Project will be spinning favorite prom tunes past and present to spark that nostalgic flame. Special (spiked) punch and brews by local brewery Ale Syndicate will be available all night long to fuel guests’ feverish dancing and uninhibited teen whims.

Whether you’re looking for a romantic couple’s night out, a reason to get a group of friends together or planning on going stag, everyone in attendance is encouraged to dress to the nines–the most fashionable among them will be elected to Prom Court, the highest of honors bestowed by our always-fashionable Chaperones (listed below).

An artist-made boutonniere or corsage can add that extra edge to secure a nomination, so those who order their tickets in advance are encouraged to commission an arrangement from one of our talented artists to pick up the evening of the festivities.

WHY:
The purpose of “Prom Night” is to continue our experimentations in arts fundraising and to celebrate the community that we exist for. In the end, “Prom Night” will raise money to support Sixty Inches From Center, Autotelic and The Perch–three organizations with missions to elevate the arts in Chicago. In turn and as an added bonus for the event, we will use our own resources to award a nominated Chicago artist with a multi-faceted arts prize, including an exhibition opportunity with Autotelic, an editorial profile featured on Sixty, and a project or teaching opportunity provided by The Perch.

If you’re unable to attend, you can still show your love by visiting the Eventbrite link and donating so that your presence is felt even in your absence.

Tickets are available at the door, but space is limited, so get your tickets early! Purchase tickets, nominate an artist (with ticket purchase or donation) and get your boutonniere or corsage here: http://tiny.cc/1qatrx
